Dennis graduated from Nogales High School in La Puente, California and later moved back to Texas where he met the love of his life, Melinda J. Gonzalez, in 1976 at Adolph’s Restaurant in Denver Harbor. They later married on Valentines Day in 1980.
He had a career as a production associate in the baking industry at Bimbo Bakery, where he worked for 38 years and later retired.
Dennis was a bass guitarist and had a profound passion for music. He collected lots of music memorabilia from classic rock and Tejano music artists. Some items he collected were from bands, such as Kiss, Led Zepplin, and his all-time favorite band The Beatles.
Spending time with his family was very important to Dennis. During the warmer months he enjoyed sitting out in the sun and listening to music while watching his grandchildren play. He liked entertaining guests on the backyard patio. He would bring out his bass guitar and have jam sessions with other family musicians.
Family road trips with Dennis were especially memorable. He liked teaching his grandchildren all about music during our road trips. He also enjoyed watching and sharing Tejano music videos on YouTube. He could talk to you about music for hours!
Dennis was a one-of-a-kind, selfless man, always happy, mellow, and very patient.
He is preceded in death by parents, Dennis G. Mendiola and Jane L. Mendiola; three brothers, Rudolph, Randolph, and Richard and one sister, Linda.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Melinda J. Mendiola; loving daughter, Carmelita J. Cabral; son-in-law, Roberto Cabral; and grandchildren, Santiago A. Cabral, Abraham M. Cabral, and Joshua L. Cabral.
We would like to give a special thanks to our family and friends who have been here for us during this difficult time.
