

Diane was born on the 18th of October 1928 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Jewell Garrett and Albert E. Dittmer. She attended Southern Methodist University. In April of 1951 Diane married Robert K. Ridley who preceded her in death in 2008.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Ridley Rice and husband, Rick; son, R. Garrett Ridley and grandchildren, Andrew Allen Rice and Shanna Marie Ridley. Diane is also survived by her cousins Patsy White, Bettye Alexander and Martha Black; and her brother-in-law, Wade Ridley of Tyler.
Diane was a long time member of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church. She and her late husband Bob were not only devoted to their family, but to a close group of friends they enjoyed for more than half a century, by celebrating their friendship each month at "Supper Club", a monthly dinner hosted by one couple of the group.
The family wishes to thank Diane Barnard, Shemika Thomas, Cecille Broussard, Oziel Garcia, Joan Wilcox, Jakki Brewer, Stacie Finner, Litondira Wilcox and Tiffianee Brewer as well as the entire staff of Brighton Gardens for their love, concern and compassionate care.
A memorial service is to be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 25th of June, in the Chapel of the Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Boulevard in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Laurens A. Hall, Rector, and the Rev. Douglas W. Richnow, Senior Associate Rector, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced during the services.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers during Monday’s services are those remaining and cherished members of Supper Club: Andy Anderson, Charlie Austin, Conrad Bering, Gregory Catsinas, Barney Herod and Travis Traylor.
Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that contributions in Diane’s memory be directed to The Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Blvd., Houston, TX, 77019; or to the charity of one’s choice.
