Dolores was an amazing lady and Believer in Christ. For many years, my family was neighbors with the Wise family.  We were young kids at the time, and we played endlessly with the Wise children, Leslie, Paul, and Bill.  When our house burned down, the Wise family immediately took us in to provide a home for 6 months and Dolores not only helped take care of us, but brought words of kindness and comfort.  Dolores epitomized and lived Christian values. A truly classy lady.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of the times our families spent together. Your mother was such a treasure. Always smiling or laughing. I have enjoyed keeping in touch with her throughout all these years, and I will miss her so very much. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Losing our mothers is such a pivotal point in our lives, one that is the most difficult to endure, I know.  I remember your mother as elegant and posh, exuding a quiet grace, which unabashedly shone through that beautiful, warm, affectionate smile of hers.  She certainly raised amazing children, one of which I had the honor and pleasure of calling my dear, close friend.  I remember you and your family quite fondly, and I will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers during this very sad time.

I am so sorry to hear about this sad news.  I remember visiting the Wise house and Mrs. Wise was always beautiful, warm, kind and welcoming. I never saw her without her charming smile. It’s clear to see where her children inherited their loving, gentle nature.

Dolores was a dear Aunt. Ken, her husband was a favorite of us kids growing up, along with brother Neal, who were Dad's stepbrothers. She was a gracious part of my wedding at First Baptist, Abilene, Leslie was a precious flower girl. Dolores was a beautiful hostess, and a sweet presence helping so much at the wedding.
We kept in touch over the years and had special visits at reunions, and a fun visit in ABQ when we moved there to be with Dad. I will miss her so much, but know we will meet again in beautiful Heaven with our dear Savior.

Paul, Leslie, and Bill - your mom lives in my memory as a bright spot in my world as a child. She was always kind and loving but I remember more as an adult and times we would stop over and visit with her when we would be back in town and just recall her love for Jesus and for my own mom as she was starting to show sign of decline. 
Your mom’s smile was always glowing, sincere, and filled with love. 
I’m stating the obvious in saying that you guys were so blessed to have her in your lives and hopefully your sorrow for losing her in life here is comforted by the memories of her joy and love. 
I had thought your mom would live much longer than mine as she had seemed to be doing well, but it’s interesting that they both passed away within 2 months of each other. I’m sure they are smiling together and enjoying each other in the presence of Jesus in heaven. 
We’ll see them soon when it’s our time to join them.

Delores Wise and family lived with my family at the end of our childhood street. Our families shared Christian faith, 3 ministers among us, love, life time friendships and hurricanes. Mr Wise passed first, we mourned together, my father passed we mourned again, we celebrated graduations, kids grew up and had lives that revealed the shared beliefs of the community. In the end it really came down to  Delores and my mother. Kids gone and beautifully living their lives. My mom would later succumb to dementia. Hurricanes, old age and biology took my mother's mind. Sweetly, Delores knew my mother had lost a step. Weekly Astro game watching continued as my mother grew quiet. Delores continued to love my mother well in her declining years. Delores, Paul, Leslie, Bill thank you for allowing us, my family to share in the gift that was her love.

So many memories to choose from, from New Years football bowl parties, Prep School, bridal showers, baby showers….the list goes on and on. 
Her love of God showed through her ever present smile that seemed to make all hurts go away. 
I can only imagine the reunion in Heaven this past week; I’m sure it was beautiful.

Dolores was a friend.  We met when we worked together at McDermott but continued to touch base through the years.  I will miss the end of year family update letters that she sent out each year.  She was a light and her faith was unwavering.  She was always so cheerful. I will miss you Dolores.

I worked with Delores at McDermott for several years, & she was one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met—smart, kind, caring, hard-working, and a dozen other superlatives (also quietly mischievous🙂♥️).  The world needs more people like Delores.  Sending love, peace, & light to you & all her family & friends as you come to terms with her loss.
