

Dominic B. Cuccerre, Sr., devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, entered into eternal rest on Saturday the 9th of April 2011. He was born in Houston (Tarruco, Little York), Texas on the 27th of January, 1930. Son of Sicilian ancestry parents, Sam and Petrina Canino Cuccerre.
He is preceded in death by his son, the late Anthony Robert Cuccerre; and parents, the late Sam and Petrina Canino Cuccerre.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Guerrini Cuccerre; his children, Nick Cuccerre Jr., and wife Betty, Antoinette Hrncir and husband Thomas, Phillip Cuccerre, Sr. and wife Jackie, Margarette Baumbach and husband Michael, Lisa Mallozzi and husband Dominic.
Dominic is also survived by his brother, Joseph G. Cuccerre; and grandchildren, Alyssa, Phillip Jr., Anthony, Jessica, Thomas, Jacquelyn, Michele, Vincent, Nicole, Justin, Bianca, Caitlin, Matthew, Nicholas, Sam and Jacob; and great-grandchildren, Jayden, Lucas, Kadence; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved in-laws and friends.
He graduated from Jeff Davis High School, served our country in the Korean War in the U S Army as a Sergeant in the Military Police from 1951 - 1953.
An icon of the produce industry for over 60 years, he was well-known and a respected figure within the produce industry. He was past President of the Houston Produce Association and member of the Retail Grocers Association.
Dominic was a pioneer member for 81 years of Sacred Heart Society Church of Little York, now Assumption Catholic Church. He served on the first Pastoral Council, where he was baptized, confirmed, married and recently celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary.
Dominic was a member of the following organizations: Italian-Cultural and Community Center, where he served on the Board for eight years. In 2005, he was awarded the Christopher Columbus Award acknowledging his 25 years of service at the Italian Festival for volunteering many years of time and talents to further the Italian heritage and traditions, which he so dearly treasured. He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Society of Little York for over 60 years and was a grandson of one of the original founders. He served as President for 3 years and was on the Board of Directors, receiving prestigious "Man of the Year" award in 2005. Lifetime member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Odin Council #2917 and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Monsignor George A. Whilhelm Assembly #1094. Devoted member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Assumption Catholic Church, where he was a recipient of the Top Hat Award; and also a Charter Member of the Little York Volunteer Fire Department, Past member of UNICO, 20 Club, Assumption Heights Civic Club.
He was known as the 'Man for all Seasons" to everyone in the Italian-American Community. Dedicated to serving God, Family, Church, Community and his Italian heritage (A true Italian-American Classic).
Dominic leaves a wonderful legacy for his family and all to follow.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from three o'clock in the afternoon until nine o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 12th of April, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where a Recitation of the Holy Rosary commencing at seven o'clock is to be led by the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Society of Little York and members of his parish.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 13th of April, at Assumption Catholic Church, 901 Rose Lane in Houston, where the Rev. Albert Zanatta, Pastor, is to serve as celebrant.
The Rite of Committal will follow, via an escorted cortege, in the Garden of Gethsemani at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
Honored to serve as casket bearers during the services are Thomas Hrncir, Sr., Michael Baumbach, Phillip Cuccerre, Jr., Anthony Cuccerre, Thomas Hrncir, Jr. Justin Baumbach, Vincent Cuccerre, and Dominic Mallozzi.
Honorary pallbearers are all of the members of the Sacred Heart Society of Little York.
