I met Don many, many years ago when I first moved to the Houston area in 1979. I was hired by Glenn, Bozell, & Jacobs to work as the account service person on the Allied Banks, Marathon Manufacturing businesss, Soltex and other accounts, and when called to do so, I filled in for Don on the Extex account.

In those days many years ago neither Don or I missed many days. I do remember filling in for Don for a couple weeks while he was on vacation. Entex was not a tough client and Don had prepared for his absence so there really was not much to do. 

For those who may not be aware, among Don's accomplishments was painting “lovely” ladies on military aircraft while he was stationed in San Francisco. He told me aircraft would fly in from around the world so Don could enhance their noses. Don had a number of talents.

As we got to know each other Don shared his interest in “Western art”, and I got to see some of his outstanding work. Somewhere along the way I was given a number of his prints which I will be forwarding to the Nelson Museum, 1714 Carey Ave in Cheyene Wyoming.

If your travels take you up around Cheyene you might want to stop and say hello. 

I was looking at a painting Don gave me called, "I'm In The Mood For Love" along with some of his prints and started to reminisce and thought I'd write down what I remembered thinking about him at that moment. 

I had the honor and privilege to be Dons foundryman that not only cast his work into bronze,  but also became a collector of his work. 
He was one hell of a man, built solid as a rock right to the end. He gave me one of his wood drivers in an attempt to show me golf. He whacked that ball to demonstrate form at least 225 yards on my property, which I can attest to as a rifleman having to know a little bit about judging distance, ...he was 92.  I do miss that smile.

Mr. Don was a wonderful man and talented artist. We had the pleasure of knowing him for a very short time, it was an honor to be a part of his life.
He will be missed by his nieghbors and friends, and pets, Greta and Soda.

Janet and Mark LaRocco

I met Don thirty-six years ago through my husband, George.  Besides sharing a lot of the same interests, I really admired his dedication to Faye, his talent, humor, generosity and kindness. I grew to love him as a brother.  Farewell, Don.  God Bless.

I've known Don since he came roaring into Houston in his 1934 Ford roadster.  We have been close friends ever since, socializing, as well as working together on many projects.  He was a great guy, as anyone who knew him will tell you.  Everyone loved him.  He could also tell a joke better than anyone and I will always miss him.

Don was our good friend for many, many years.  He had a great sense of humor and was well-liked by all who knew him.  His talent as an artist was outstanding.  He will be missed.

Don was a good person, He and I decorated the Xmas tree on the downtown sales floor . He did a great job for the old UGC company . It was a pleasure to have known Him. Lewis Stephens.
