After her parents passed, she had guardians, Irene Carroll, my grandmother, Letia Eckert, my mother, and about 15 years ago l, Kim Eckert, proudly became her guardian and friend. I have learned so much from this amazing woman. No matter her past or present issues, she never stopped smiling and praising God.
There was a church a couple of houses down at the end of her street where she would go every time the doors were open. Her love of music, singing, and dancing for the Lord never slowed down. She even went to the Spanish services and choir practices because she loved the music so much. Never understood the words, but could sing parts of the songs, knowing she was praising her God.
I will miss my voicemails, which were always the same, "Hi Kimberly, this is Donna, you.. are.. awesome! I love you"
Her laugh was just infectious, you just couldn't help but smile, laugh, and be happy any time you were around her. Even close to the end, with unimaginable pain, she still found a way to smile.
Donna and l had a running joke that she will have a mansion in Heaven, and l made her always promise that l could have a room in her mansion. Donna would always laugh and say "Of course Kimberly."
Donna was sedated the last few days of her life, but on the day before she passed, l sat by her bed talking, singing, and playing old hymns. I suddenly remembered and stated "Hey, don't forget l get a room in your mansion." She opened one eye and squeezed my hands as l was holding them. My heart breaks for the loss of such a bright light in my life, but know she is in Heaven in her manson sitting with God.
We love you Donna and will miss everything about you. You will be missed by all you have blessed with your smile and love of God.
Hi Donna, this is Kimberly, You Are Awesome! I love you!
