Dora Melendez

Dora Camposano Melendez passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. She is survived by her loving husband and caregiver, Clay L. Melendez, daughters Debra A. Rico; Sylvia M. Jones and her husband Curtis L. Jones "Rick"; Elena M. Lopez and husband Edgar Lopez; and son Daniel Melendez and wife Rosa I. Melendez. Grandchildren Anthony, Alex and Aaron Rico; Ricky and Ashley Jones; Christian and Illeana Lopez; and great grandson Gavin Rico "Kevin".

She was born in New Braunfels, Texas on June 16, 1936. Her family moved to Houston making it their home when she was a young child. She married on January 17, 1959 and had just celebrated 55 years of marriage this year.

Dora loved to cook and is known by family members for making the best potato salad, menudo and lemon meringue pie. She loved spending time with her family. She was known for always having fun, rather it be drinking a margarita or taking a "jelly roll", as she would call a Jell-O shot. Our fondest memories are of her listening to music, especially Mariachi and Tejano music. Her favorite artist was Joe Lopez and Grupo Mazz. Dora and Clay would go out dancing to see them perform on many occasions.

We will miss her loving smile. Her smile had a way of brightening up a room.
