Doris Ehlinger Anderson , a beloved Mother and Grandmother went to be with the Lord on the 21st of October 2014. A native Houstonian she was born the 1st of December 1926. She graduated from Lamar High School, Rice University and University of Texas Law School. Married to Wiley N Anderson Jr in 1946, they had two sons, Wiley N. Anderson, III, and Joseph Ehlinger Anderson.
She was one of only a handful of women in her law class at U.T. Interestingly, those three years in Austin were the only time she ever lived outside of Houston.
A longtime member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, she was also a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, life member of the San Jacinto Descendants, Admiral in the Texas Navy and other historic organizations.
Doris had many interests. She was a master gardener. A Texas history buff, she could recant major battles and stories in detail. She also had a huge collection of period appropriate costumes from Texas history. She shared these, along with her vast knowledge of history, in fashion shows and museum displays. She was a docent at Bayou Bend, and at Houston Heritage Society, and the curator of Houston Baptist College Museum of TX history. Doris loved anything Texan.
She was preceded by her parents, her husband, Wiley N. Anderson, Jr. and her oldest son, Wiley N. Anderson, III. She is survived by her son Joseph Ehlinger Anderson, his wife Sydney Tippit Anderson her grandchildren, Alexa and Chase Anderson.
