Doris E Bivens

Doris Eileen Hayes Bivens went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 15, 2017. She was born May 23, 1928 in Las Animas, Colorado. After living on various farms in Colorado, the Hayes family moved to Denver, CO about 1944. She met Hollis Bivens at Bethel Baptist Church in 1946 and they were married in 1947. She worked as a clerk typist while Hollis attended Medical School.

Following graduation from Medical School, Hollis entered the U.S. Army to continue his medical training, Doris maintained her employment with the Civil Service as they relocated to Washington DC, San Antonio TX, Tacoma WA, Manhattan KS, and Lawrence KS, then retiring in Houston TX in 1976.

Doris and Hollis were long-time members of Houston's First Baptist Church, and later Tallowood Baptist Church, where they are members of the Joshua Class.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Boone and Bertha Hayes, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Lee and son-in-law Arthur Brumley, niece Wandalee and husband John Robert Fullerton, niece Mary Ruth Sands, nephew Leonard Hayes and wife Shirley, niece Evelyn and husband Archie Featherston, niece Margie and husband Howard Cummings, and nephew Raymond Yoder.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Tallowood Baptist Church, Houston Texas.
