It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Doris Marie Campbell, who peacefully left us on March 26, 2025, at the age of 88 in Houston, Texas.
Doris was born on March 30, 1936, in Whited Township, Kanabec County, MN, to Lyle Ransom Hancock and Ellen Larson. She married William Albert Chaffee on November 20, 1954, in Hinckley, MN, and together they raised six children. Doris had four marriages throughout her life, each of which brought her unique experiences and a deeper understanding of love.
Doris lived a full and rich life, working in various fields including retail, as a bank teller, and as a devoted homemaker. She was a woman of deep faith, and her active involvement in her church brought her great joy, especially when she sang in the choir. Doris had many hobbies that brought comfort and joy, including quilting, counted cross-stitch, embroidery, reading, bowling, solving puzzles, and listening to her favorite musician, Don Williams. She also had a deep love for dogs, particularly small lap dogs, and cherished her fondness for hummingbirds and all things blue.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Ellen Hancock; her four husbands, William Chaffee, Herbert Nelson, Waldo Fillbrandt, and William Campbell; her daughter, Debra Jean Beatty; and her sister, Lynda Roberts.
She is survived by her children, Clifford (MaryJane) Chaffee of Kentucky, LuAnn Dobbs of Houston, TX, Julie (Joseph) Marks of Houston, TX, Linda (Jose) Limas of Houston, TX, and Michael Chaffee of St. Cloud, MN; sisters, Shelby (Keith) Kappauf of Hinckley, MN, and Hazel Roberts of Sandstone, MN; her brother, Allen (Clarie) Hancock of Burnet, TX; her grandchildren; Shaun Chaffee, Matt Beatty, Nicole Nebergall, Carl Beatty, Joseph Chaffee, Holly Hall, Shannon Aumiller, June Coons, Billy Coons, Jasmine Marks, Janell Marks, Joseph A. Chaffee, Estefana Limas, Natali Limas, Miguel Limas, William Martin-Chaffee, Brandon Chaffee, Ryan Chaffee as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Doris was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We are forever grateful for the love, wisdom, and warmth she shared with us. Doris' spirit of love will continue to live on in our hearts.
A celebration of Doris' life will be held by family and friends, and her memory will remain with us always.
