Doris B Hibbard

Doris B. Hibbard was born on January 20, 1926, in Houston, Texas and passed away on April 28, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and May Baxter. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Rockwell, son Jim and wife Kathy, granddaughter Leslie Hibbard of Austin, grandson Jeffery Hibbard, wife Karen and great grandsons Nathan, Thomas and Joseph of Houston, sister Margaret McSpadden of Houston, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Doris attended Travis Elementary, Hogg Junior High and Reagan High School and was a member of the Raegan Redcoats. After high school, she attended Sam Houston State University. She met Rock Hibbard at Raegan High School, and after the war they got married in 1946. Dori was a house wife and after her son went to college she resumed her secretarial career and later became Senior Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Raymond International Inc., retiring in 1988.

Rock and Doris were members of the Bellaire Presbyterian Church for 60 years. She served as an Elder, and was a Circle Chairman, Secretary and later President of the Bellaire Presbyterian Women.

Doris lived most of her life in Houston, with short stays in Calgary, Canada and Tripoli, Libya. She and Rock loved to travel and toured most of the United States and number of European countries by car.

Memorial Services will be held at Clarewood House Chapel, 7400 Clarewood Drive, Houston, Texas on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 2:00PM, with private burial at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. Memorial Contributions in honor of Doris can be made to Clarewood Charitable Fund for Resident Assistance.
