Doris Marie Wells

Doris Marie Wells loved the Lord with her whole heart and went to her heavenly home on March 21, 2023, just shy of her 93rd birthday. Born on March 30, 1930, she was the daughter of Arnold and Alice Marquart and the youngest of three children - William Arnold (“Brother Bill” as she called him), and sister Betty Jane, her partner in crime!

On October 9,1949, Doris married the love of her life, Robert Lynn Wells. Together they had four children - Stephen Wells (Kathy), Sandra Bishoff (Mike), Robin Stephens (John), and Kay Barcus (Bill). She and Bob were married for 55 years until his death in April, 2005.

“Grandma”, as she was known to so many, was dearly loved and so very proud of her nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. They were the light of her life. She was also “Aunt Doris” to her nieces and nephews, and dear friends whom she loved so much.

Doris lived a blessed life in Houston, TX. She was an amazingly talented and creative lady with a huge sense of humor like no other. She was an avid golfer, seamstress, and loved having parties where laughter was always abundant. She cherished her many golf friends and the great times they had together. Doris travelled often to visit family on both coasts. She had cherished memories of her trip on the Queen Elizabeth II and her many trips to Hawaii.

Doris was so generous, kind, and very sweet to all who knew her. She joins her heavenly family, parents Arnold and Alice Marquart, husband Robert “Bob” Wells, daughter-in-law Margaret Wells, son-in-law John Stephens, sister Betty Jane Bailey, brother Bill Marquart, and sister-in-law Jeanne Marquart, all who have been waiting for her. She will be missed greatly by all her knew her.

A Celebration of Life for this remarkable lady will be held on March 30, 2023 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston TX, 77079. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00, Celebration Service at 11:00 followed by a luncheon on site.
