She worked as a payroll administrator for Gerald Hines Interests for 35 years. She was an actively involved Girl Scout leader for her daughters; she enjoyed gardening and feeding the neighborhood cats and birds, except for those damn pigeons.
She was preceded in death by her father, Austin Fred Nathey; mother, Francis Mae Fundaburk; sisters Hazel Oglethorpe Pierce and Alice Oglethorpe McCain; brother Harold Raymond Nathey; and daughters Jerrie Allison Stanley and Linda Kay Kelm.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Stanley Garcia and Dianna Stanley Tidwell. There are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Dorothy had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh with family and friends. She was always rooting for her Houston Astros and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids. She was an avid reader and claimed she solved all the mysteries before the book ended. Not only that, but she was a great cook, and no one ever left her house hungry.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Forest Park on Friday, February 23rd, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in honor of Dorothy to Disabled American Veterans or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
