

The sun rose in Keatchie, Louisiana on December 14, 1944, brining with it a new day and new life. Douglas (Mac) McArthur George was born to Willie George and Dorothy Louise Mayes, both preceded him in death along with his father Herod Mayes.
A Time to Serve God
He accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Kearchie, Louisiana.
A Time to be Born
Mac was one of six siblings Helen, Ernest, Wade George (deceased), Debra and Michael Mayes.
A Time for Education, Country and Profession
Raised in Houston, Texas Mac received his education from the likes of E.O. Smith Jr. High School and graduating from Phillis Wheatley High School’ 64 and Texas Southern University in Industrial Technology. In 1974 he was honorably discharged from the Army as a 1st Class Specialist E4 and M14 sharpshooter. He worked as a machinist at American Can Company and refinery operator at LynodellBasell Refinery (originally Sinclair Refinery) in Houston, Texas.
A Time of Marriage and Love
Mac united in Holy Matrimony to the lovely Marie Priscilla Roberts on June 1st, 1968, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Houston, Texas and from that union were two wonderful fruits of their labor Tammy Yvonne (spouse Thomas Shondal Clayborne) and Christopher George (spouse Angela Yvonne). Later Mac joined St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church upon his union as, “A family that praise together stays together”.
Journey to Heaven
To cherish his precious memories, he also leaves seven grandchildren Kristena Antwaneq Rainey-George, Taylor Marie George, Blake McArthur George, Tyrese Shondal Clayborne, Brea Janea Robinson, Avery Anthony George and Kendall Adli George and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
A wake for Douglas will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A rosary will occur Friday, April 1, 2022 at 7:00 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A mass service will occur Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 10500 Nold Dr., Houston, Texas 77016. A burial will occur Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
