He was born in Wabash, Indiana to Max and Jean Gilbert. He attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated from Purdue University in 1983. He moved to Houston upon his graduation and was a loyal, long time employee of Unisource (Veritiv Corp.). Doug was a beloved son and brother and a tremendous friend to many. He enjoyed reading and was an avid sports fan, especially football. His passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Brookside Cypress Creek Funeral Home followed by a brief service. Other arrangements are pending at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Home, Wabash, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
