Doug was a charismatic navy veteran, hotel operator, and salesman with a passion for sports cars and sailing. He loved life and enjoying time with his wife, family, friends and the giggles of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by father, Richard McCarthy and mother, Elizabeth McCarthy.
He is survived by his loving wife and partner for 51 years, Sandra, and his son Sean and wife Christa from Austin, TX with their two daughters Doug happily called "Beauty" and "Cutie" and they certainly love their Pops.
His Celebration of Life is being held on Saturday August 12th 3:00pm at the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. He will have a Military burial service with honors at the National Cemetery at a later date.
Remembrances in his name would be graciously appreciated to any Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) research and prevention organizations. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home if desired.
