Dovie Ernestine Howell Riddle

Dovie Ernestine Riddle, 88, of Lake Jackson, passed away January 23, 2017. She was born in McComb, MS March 18, 1928 to Lewis David Howell, Sr and Dovie Richey Howell. She married Larry Bryan Riddle October 20, 1956 in McComb, MS.

Ernestine is preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is also preceded in death by three sisters Mary Elizabeth Howell Hilton, Sarah Louise Howell Martin, and Evelyn Lyndell Howell Johnston, and three brothers, Lewis David Howell, Jr., Lowery Butler Howell and LTC Lawrence Carey Howell, Sr.

Ernestine is survived by two daughters Cheryl Evonne Riddle of Lake Jackson, Rachel Louise Yeates of Houston and four grandchildren, Hannah Faith, Micah James, Sarah Elisabeth and Joshua Andrew Yeates, son-in-law James Kent Yeates as well as lifetime friend of 8 decades Emma Ritchie.

Ernestine was also a loving grandmother to her daughter Cheryl's 8 cats, known around the house as her 'Grandcats'. (especially Scooter)

She was a very loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her compassion for others and adventurous spirit will be missed by family and friends. She loved to travel and took many trips in her later years including visits to Europe, New York, Slidell and New Orleans for Mari Gras.

The visitation is from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Houston. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM in the Memorial Oaks Chapel. The burial will take place at 1:30 PM at the Memorial Oaks Cemetery officiated by Reverend Joe McKinney.
