Neva Mae "Dusty" Snelling, 84, passed away on April 17, 2026. Born on November 4, 1941, in Pattison, TX. Dusty will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection—as someone cherished by many, steady in spirit, and unwavering in the face of life’s demands.
In her early years, Dusty lived in Pattison with her mother and father, alongside Eileen and Ray, her brother and sister. She graduated from Pattison High School and later moved to Houston, where she lived with Georgia, a good friend who remains as a sister to her for life.
Dusty’s life was shaped by work that required stamina, vision, and persistence. She and husband, Dave, were custom homebuilders in Houston, TX for several years. Later, she purchased, owned, and managed Olympic Pools & Spas, a family-owned business, for approximately 34 years—work that spoke to her diligence and resilience, and a legacy that continues today through her son, David Jon, and Janiece Snelling. She also owned and managed Conroe Spas, Plus with her son, Alan.
Dusty was first married to Jack Juran, and they had two sons, David Juran and Alan Juran. She went to work for Henesee Homes. After being widowed, she met and married Dave Snelling, Sr., who had two children, Brenda Snelling and David Snelling, Jr. Dave Snelling, Sr. adopted Alan and David Juran, and together they became one happy Snelling family. Dusty is also survived by her beautiful grandchildren, Amelia, Lauren, Maryanne, Samuel, Rhiana, Justin, Jake and their spouses, and beloved great grandchildren.
She found joy in the water and the outdoors. Time with family was often spent on the boat—fishing, skiing, and simply being together. Dusty and her husband also traveled extensively, and enjoyed Europe, the Greek Isles, Australia, Jamaica, Canada, Bahamas, and Mexico. Brenda and Marlon often travelled with them. Dusty loved family get togethers at Dave, Jr and Debbie's home whether Christmas caroling or barbecue by the pool. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter were spent with all the children and their families as fun times that will always be remembered – a tradition that is treasured.
Around 1975, Dusty and Dave, Sr., gave their lives to Jesus Christ, and as a family—including the children—they were devoted to serving Him. They were born again and received the Holy Spirit, as the scripture explains, and they found purpose in sharing the good news of the gospel with others. No matter
where they were, they would minister to others and tell them about Jesus, even on vacations. Prayer Meetings, Vacation Bible Schools, Fellowshipping with others were joyous occasions at the Snelling house. They were committed to a life shaped by service.
In 2018, Dusty adopted a beautiful little girl, Charla Snelling, and moved to Livingston, Texas thereafter, where they made their home and enjoyed country life. Charla was instantly loved and accepted by all members of the Snelling family.
Dusty’s legacy is one of strength and spiritual conviction. She was a Mighty Woman of God, strong in the word and faith, whose guidance, love, and warmth will be missed by those who carry her influence forward. Around 2007, Dusty joined Bible Teachers International where she served as a member of the Prayer Council and for years, participated on The 6:00 a.m. Texas Prayer Line Monday through Friday almost every morning of her life until she passed – an enduring testimony.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Dignity Memorial, Brookside Champions, 3410 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, TX 77068, on May 9, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
The family expresses profound gratitude for a life committed to serving Jesus Christ and others.
The Family wants to thank Ruth Noel, a dear friend who was irreplaceable as Dusty’s full-time care giver, and to Andy Bush, a family friend who generously assisted Dusty and Charla in many ways. A heart-felt thank you to Apostle Mary Banks, Bishop Coco Thompson and many others for the wonderful Godly influence and Apostolic teaching poured into Dusty’s life. Most precious to Dusty was the hope of hearing the words:
“Well Done, My Good and Faithful Servant.”
