Dwayne Thomas Stenson, of Houston, Texas, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was called home after a strong fight against cancer on August 11th, 2023. Despite the pain, Dwayne was a soldier and fought until the very end.
He was born on December 7th, 1959 to Thomas Stenson and Nilda Valles Stenson-Robinson in Manhattan, New York, but grew up in Miami, Florida. He resided in Texas where God blessed him with his beloved wife, Cheryl Stenson, who he loved so much. They were together for 18 years, but married for 13 of them.
Dwayne lived a life all about fast cars and freedom, but most importantly, he loved his family. His passion for cars and racing paid off after enlisting into the U.S. Army, which led him to be an auto mechanic for almost 50 years. When he wasn’t getting his hands dirty, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Whether he was watching his daughter Heather show cattle in the local FFA, taking boat rides with his son Kevin, cheering on his grandson Kaiden at his baseball games, or watch his granddaughter Sophia roller-skate, they always brought him so much joy.
Most of all, Dwayne loved spending quiet evenings at home with his wife Cheryl and their dog Harley, while enjoying a cold glass of Jim Beam and Coca-Cola. Some of his favorite days consisted of taking his wife for rides on their Harley Davidson motorcycle, and watching the NASCAR races every weekend.
Dwayne is survived and missed by his loving wife Cheryl and their dog Harley; he was a proud father to Kevin Donovan, Sarah Stenson, and Heather Stenson; and had two loved bonus children Anthony Iacobucci and Nicole Zappella. Forever cherished and remembered by his grandchildren, Kaiden and Sophia; and forever missed by his mother Nilda Valles Stenson-Robinson; and his siblings Lydia, Audrey, Martin, Rosalind, and Bradley. He was predeceased by his father Thomas Stenson, and his grandmother Ana Maria Fraticelli.
Services and a celebration of life are still to be determined [omit until determined]. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Boys and Girls Country of Houston, an organization Dwayne felt passionate about.
