

Earl Edwin Dungan, 89, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2012 in Houston, Texas, his home for the last 57 years. Born on July 2, 1923 to Albert and Rhoda Dungan in Mogadore, Ohio, he later attended and graduated as an Officer from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. in 1945 and served aboard U.S. Ships during W.W.II until 1950. He married his young bride, the love of his life, in June, 1950 and in 1955, moved his family to Houston, Texas where he went into the Real Estate business and established himself as a successful land developer of recreational properties around Lake Livingston, as well as many other properties in San Jacinto, Walker, and Trinity Counties in Texas. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gilda, daughters Cheryl Hough and husband Kevin of Dallas, Tx., Lynne Heddins and husband Victor of Coldspring, Tx., Nancy Weitzel and husband Doug of Richmond, Tx., his grandsons Matthew Cummins, Brad Weitzel, and Kyle Weitzel, and his sister Velma Hynum of Vicksburg, Ms., and brother Harold Dungan and wife Bobbie of Port Gibson, Ms., along with numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, August 17, 2012 and funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 10am at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Frwy. Houston, Tx. 77079.
