

E.B. Gates was born on September 25, 1913 in Liberty, Texas. He peacefully went home at the age of 102 on October 09, 2015 with family and friends by his side. E.B. began working at an early age supporting is mother and siblings. He retired around the age of 70 and decided to spend his retirement years where he was born which ultimately became the happiest years of his life. E.B. always enjoyed family, farming, gardening, and sharing the fruits of his labor with others. In knowing E.B., everyone was part of his life through his stories. He was a long-time member of the Catholic Church and belonged to The Knights of Columbus Council #5077 and the Holy Name Society. His faith, love and devotion were experienced and passed on not only to generations of family but also to friends. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of fifty years, Ella Mae, his buddy and son H. Lloyd Gates, and also his angel, granddaughter Anna Viola Barker. He is survived by his daughters: Linda Barker and Mary Elizabeth Parham. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Richard A. Barker Jr. and wife Angela, Henry Gates, Joe D. Bernal, III and wife Chrissy, Edward Bradford Bernal and wife Beverly, Veronica Gates Baggett, Nina Quintero and husband Tony, Ralisa Parham, John Barker and wife Ashley and Crystal Parham. His great grandchildren are Blake Barker and wife Heather, Cody Barker, Harrison Gates, Austin Bernal, Sierra Bernal, Sienna Bernal, Donavan Bernal, Micah Bernal, Ralisa Bernal, Alanna Bernal, Kaleb Bernal, Ethan Bernal, Sadie Bernal, Taylor Baggett, Katelyn Baggett, Amber Quintero, Aaron Quintero, Katelyn Long, Faith Barker, Haylee Long, Hope Barker and Ayden Long. His great-great grandchildren are Abigail Barker and Graham Barker. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Advantage Howard-Glendale Funeral Chapel on 1015 Federal Road, Houston, Texas 77015.
Visitation to begin at 5:00 p.m. with Rosary recited from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a fellowship from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Church services (Funeral Mass) will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at10:00 a.m. at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 824 Main Street, Pasadena, Texas 77506.
