

Preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Thompson, Edward is survived by his wife and best friend of 36 years, San Juanita (Janie) Echartea Thompson; Children, Steven, Lisa Randolph, & husband Sean, Patrick (Rick) & wife Anna, Sister and friend Virginia Thompson; Friend, Olga Thompson; Brother, Tommy & wife Judy; Grandchildren, Curtis and Alex Randolph and countless Echartea family members.
After graduating from Milby High School, he served with the U.S. Air Force and later graduated from the University of Houston. A member of Texas Society of Public Accountants, Edward worked as a CPA in diverse industries and most recently, he was self-employed as a tax preparer with various CPA firms. Edward and Janie received a Diploma in Pastoral Theology from St. Thomas University School of Theology at St. Mary’s Seminary, and in 1999, Edward was ordained a Deacon for the Diocese of Galveston-Houston. Until his retirement, he and Janie passionately treasured serving the community of St. Cyril’s of Alexandria Catholic Church in a variety of ministries.
Edward will always be remembered as a loving friend and counselor who enjoyed his own company as much as he enjoyed others. Because of his faith, he looked forward to seeing Jesus, but not just yet.
The family will receive friends Thursday March 31 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home with a rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday April 1, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079, with Fr. Troy Gately presiding. Family will hold a private interment of ashes later.
