

Edwin A. "Ed" Valicek, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose grandchildren called "Tractor", passed away on February 12, 2011. He was born on October 7, 1922 in Schulenberg, TX to Willie and Frances Zacek Valicek.
Ed served his country during WWII in the Army Air Force and attended the University of Houston. Ed retired as Sales Manager from Hahn and Clay after 30 years of employment. After retirement, he began ranching at his ranch near Bernardo.
Ed always felt the need to stay busy, never wanting to stop even for a minute. His hobbies included cooking and gardening, hunting, woodworking, as well as his many construction projects. He was a fine teacher of his hobbies.
Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4550, IMI and Alhambra organizations. He was also active in the Houston Camellia Society.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Norine Moreland Valicek; his son Edwin Valicek, Jr. and wife Kristin; his daughters Mary Frances Valicek and Diane Womack and husband Chris; his grandchildren Carson and Cade Womack and Alex, Annie and Emily Valicek; his brother John Valicek; his sisters Martha Macha and Mary Ann West; sister-in-law Jane Moreland; numerous nieces and nephews; along with other loving relatives and friends.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 until 8 PM on Monday, February 14, 2011 at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ed's honor to Mt. Carmel Hermitage, Box 337, Christoval, TX 76935.
