

Dr. Ekeledirichukwu Asonye, fondly known as “Ekele” or “Arthur” departed this life on March 5, 2026. Born on October 8, 1985, Ekele lived a purposeful and inspiring life marked by passion, dedication, and remarkable achievements.
Ekele completed his secondary school education at St. Timothy’s College, Yaba, Lagos after which he went on to attend the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. Driven by a desire for excellence, he furthered his studies at Prairie View A&M University in Texas, where he obtained both his Master’s and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
A man of service and patriotism, Ekele proudly served in the United States Army Reserve as well as in the United States Air Force. His commitment reflected a deep love for country and an enduring dedication to the well-being of others.
Ekele cherished his traditional roots and loved every opportunity to celebrate the Nigerian culture and give back to his home community. He was a family man, who stood as a pillar for his wife and children. Known for his warm, vibrant personality, Ekele was courteous, dependable, and quick to bring humor and light into every situation. His life was guided by the principle, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” a value evident in his daily interactions. A true people person, he was actively involved in every community he joined, always contributing wholeheartedly.
Ekele was also deeply devoted to his Christian faith. In church, he sang with passion and joy, never too tired to worship and serve. Beyond his professional and spiritual life, he found great joy in soccer and singing—two passions he pursued effortlessly and enthusiastically. He had a unique way of blending both, spreading joy and energy wherever he went. He passed while doing something he loved, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and joy.
Ekele is survived by his loving wife and beautiful daughters, his father and siblings. He will always be remembered for his infectious smiles, unwavering spirit, and the countless cherished moments he shared with family and friends.
His life stands as a testament to strength, ambition, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038, US, on April 3, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at the same location from 12:15 pm to 1:45 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038, US, on April 3, 2026, from 2:15 pm to 2:45 pm.
