

Elizabeth Giries Misri of Houston, TX, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on July 30, 1932, in Ein Karem, Palestine, where she grew up with four brothers and three sisters.
She graduated from the University of Houston in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in linguistics.
She worked as an Administrative Assistant for the University of Texas Health Science Center at the School of Public Health.
She was deeply committed to helping international students adjust to their new environment. She assisted them with their coursework such as their thesis, often invited them to dinner at her home, and help them shop. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and maintained a beautiful rose garden.
She is preceded in death by her parents Hanna and Marguerite Giries, Aunt Maria Giries, husbands Elias Faris George Misri, and siblings George, Georget, Joseph, David, and Evelyn.
She is survived by her sister Lily Faris, brother Elie Giries, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, great sense of humor, love of laughter, delicious cooking, baking, and kindness to everyone. She was always helping others and cherished traveling all over the world, collecting dolls, cookbooks, and entertaining family and friends. Her home was a welcoming place, often full of people at all times of the day. She graciously cared for her elderly parents and aunt for many years. Anyone who knew Elizabeth was aware of her strong faith in the Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank The Abbey at Westminster Plaza and their giving staff for the care and compassion they showed towards Elizabeth.
