

He was a proud graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and later earned an advanced degree from American University in Washington, D.C. He leveraged his education in
Political Science and International Relations to begin his career in media, working with NTA Aba where he anchored and produced programs. He later transitioned into banking, serving at Progress Bank in Owerri. He was then recruited by John Holt PLC, an opportunity that moved him to Lagos. After the work he did with John Holt, he made his way back to banking, working with Manny Bank, where he held roles of increasing responsibility and impact.
In recognition of his expertise and leadership, he was recruited by the Governor of Abia State to serve as an advisor, contributing his knowledge and insight to public service. A man of deep faith, DcN Chief Akwari served as a deacon at Christ Embassy, where he played a pivotal role in implementing and supporting television ministry programs. He was also an active member of the Item Development Association in both Nigeria and the United States, as well as the Item Community Association in Houston.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chief Akwari was a devoted and loving father whose life was defined by his unwavering commitment to his children. He believed deeply in their potential and worked tirelessly to support, guide, and uplift them in every stage of their lives. Whether through his counsel, sacrifices, or steadfast presence, he ensured his family was cared for and empowered to succeed. His legacy is not only in his career and service, but in the strength, values, and achievements of the family he nurtured.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theophilus and Christiana Akwari; his brother, Dr. Onye Akwari; his sister, Ngozi Akwari; and his nephew, Theo Egesi Akwari.
He is survived by his children, Onye, Ngozi, and Okechukwu Eme Akwari, and their mother, Anedi; his siblings, Ogbonnaya, Okechukwu, Ndukwe, Nnenna, and Uzunma; his son-in-law, Emeka; his grandchild, Anaia Oputa; his daughter-in-law, Channelle Carr; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Memorial Hermann Cancer Center, led by Dr. Syed Jafri and his dedicated team; Dr. Mark Amsbaugh in Radiation Oncology; and the exceptional oncology nurses for their compassionate care.
The family is also deeply grateful for the unwavering support of their extended family, especially Benita and Austin Umenwaliri, and the Christ Embassy Church in Cypress, Texas, led by Pastor Fortune Ajebon.
