

He was born in Hallettsville, Texas on December 18, 1950.
Ernie graduated from St Thomas Catholic High School in 1970.
He was married to Donnie Kay Herman of 49 years on January 8, 1972.
Ernie had a career in the printing industry for Gulf Printing from 1970 – 1995 and retired from Western Lithograph from 1995 -2014.
He was a member of the United States Army and had a passion for fishing, playing cards at the deer lease, barbecuing, and visiting with family. He played football for St. Thomas Catholic High School and they won State Championship in 1968 and 1969.
He was survived by his wife Donnie Kay Herman, children Ernest Herman III, Nathan Herman, Lisa Miles; grandchildren Logan and Skylar Herman, Nathan Herman Jr., God son Larry Prewit II; sisters Agnes Prewit, Margaret Gajdousek, Beatrice Smith. Ernie was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Julius Herman, Henry Herman, Henrietta Hermes, Evelyn Kefauver; childhood friend Greg Hall; his father Ernest Henry Herman Sr. and his mother Lillie Cinadr.
A visitation for Ernest will be held Friday, April 2, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 2, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A reception will occur Friday, April 2, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
Ernest will be buried privately at Houston National Cemetery.
The Herman family would like to thank the medical staff at Houston Methodist Hospital for all the loving care they provided to Ernest. They would also like to thank their neighbors Helen, Rubin and Mrs. Vickie for all their support.
