

Esther Contreras Alaniz received her final call on Monday, January 24, 2011 to be with the Lord. She is proceed in death by her beloved parents, Theresa and Lupe Contreras and her favorite aunt Chelo Medrano.
Esther has one son Anthony Abbott , his wife Debbi and they have one son Nicholas and a daughter Crystal. Esther's daughter Annette Abbott Villeda and her husband Claro have two sons, Adrian and Andre and one daughter Alexandra. Esther leaves two sisters Dolores Davalos and her favorite brother in law, Joe Davalos,and Cathy and her husband Joe Lopez. Three brothers Johnny Contreras, Lupe Contreras and Eddie Contreras, Her sisters in law, Emily, Linda and Madeline Contreras. Nephews, Greg, Lupe III, Roger, Michael,and Christopher. Nieces Chantal, Mitzi, Dena, Cheryl, Michele, Monica and Theresa (RIP) and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Esther retired from the Houston Police Department where she worked for 35 years in many departments. She loved to do volunteer work for HWIL, LULAC, Toys for Tots,she always supported Civil Rights,and was "LULAC Woman of the Year" and was also inducted into the LULAC "Hall of Fame". She also patrticipated in the Latina Women's Initiative, Houston Girls Scouts and the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. After retirement, she often worked as a Harris County Election poll Worker.
Family will receive friends Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 6-8pm with a 7pm rosary bring recited at Brookside Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held 10am, Friday, February 4, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church: 4918 Cochran St., Houston, Tx, 77009 with a reception to follow. Inurnment will follow at 2pm in Brookside Memorial Park Mausoleum.
