On February 7, 1959, the world became a little brighter with the birth of Eula Yvonne Jackson. Born in Houston, Texas, to Eddie and Lillie Mae Jackson, Eula was the fourth of five children. Named after her beloved Aunt Eula Clark, she carried that name with a grace and kindness that would define her entire life.
Eula’s journey of faith began early. At the age of 10, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on the Usher Board. In 1988, she joined Sheeler Memorial C.M.E. Church with her family. For decades, Eula was a cornerstone of the church community, lending her voice to the choir and her hands to the Usher Board, serving with a servant’s heart until her health began to decline.
EDUCATION AND CAREER
A proud 1977 graduate of Waltrip Senior High School, Eula was a lifelong learner. She later attended Houston Community College, where she earned her certificate in Medical Coding and Billing. Her professional career spanned several insurance companies, ultimately leading her to Memorial Hermann Health System. She retired after 10 years of dedicated service as an Insurance Verification Specialist, a role where her attention to detail and compassionate nature shone through.
A DEVOTED WIFE AND MOTHER
In 1977, Eula married the love of her life, Mathew Esters. Together, they built a beautiful life and a home filled with love for 48 years. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters, Pamela and Debria.
Eula was the definition of a selfless soul. A devoted wife and mother, she spent her years nurturing her loved ones and putting the needs of others above her own. She loved reading and sewing for her family. She was known for her “kind-hearted soul” and her willingness to give her last to someone in need. Whenever friends or family faced a trial, they found comfort in her signature phrase: “Bless your little heart.”
A PEACEFUL DEPARTURE
Eula departed this life on March 3, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Though she faced health challenges, she beat the odds of medical expectations, proving that God always has the final say.
She is preceded in death by: Eddie Jackson (Father); Larry Jackson (Brother); and Leon Jackson (Brother).
Eula leaves to carry on her legacy: her devoted husband, Mathew Esters; her daughters, Pamela (Pam) Esters and Debria (Chele) Joseph; and her son-in-law, Stacy Joseph. She is also survived by her mother, Lillie Mae Jackson; her sister, Debria Reed; her brother, Robert Welch; sister-in-law; Jovita Jackson, Beverly Welch, Clydia Esters, Ida Wafer, Irma Esters, Rachel Esters; and brother-in-law; James Esters, Willie Esters, J.B.
