On Friday evening, January 18, 2013, Evelyn Marie Byrd, age 81 was escorted by angels from heaven to be with her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a joy to everyone who knew her. She retired from The AAA Restaurant on Airline Drive where she worked for over 40 years. To this day, the restaurant still has customers coming in and asking about her. She always had a beautiful smile on her face because she loved to be around people. Her children called her “blessed” because of her giving heart, working long hours and going the extra mile to provide for them. Evelyn would often say that she needed to go on to heaven to make sure that there will be a big house made for the whole family with special rooms made for each one of us.
She will be a busy lady working on that project. Upon Evelyn’s arrival in heaven, she was greeted by her parents; Willie Welch and Beulah May Reeves and niece, Sandy Everett. She is survived by a loving daughter, Jan Marie Everett and a loving son, Michael Byrd and wife, Joni. As well as, two sisters, Natalie Dover and Betty Bryant and husband Frank and brother and "friend" she took care of, Billy Bob Welch. She had four grandchildren, Jackie and Jason Mitchell, Chris Byrd and grand-daughter, Stephani Meineke and husband Jeff. The great-grandchildren are Nicholas and Jacquelin Meineke, Tyler Miller and Hailey Mitchell. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Gateway Baptist Church, 2930 Rayford Road in Spring, Texas at 11:00 a.m. The family would like o say “Thank You” to Dr. Grainger for taking care of Evelyn for many years and the group of caring staff from Hospice Odyssey House, in Conroe, Texas for taking such good care of her in her last few days with us.
