

Filomeno Guanzon Caburao of Houston, Texas passed away on Monday September 11,2023 at the age of 102. Son of the late Juan and Monica Caburao ,he was born in Sual , Pangasinan , Philippines on July 5, 1921 . He is survived by his spouse, Elisa Gopilan Caburao and Children Fernando, Peter George, Elizabeth, Imelda, Alexander, Richard John, Divina Grace and Monica Lisa . He is preceded in the death by his son Philip Anthony and grandson Marco Antonio. He is survived by His sons-in-law; Antonio, Ronilo, Jude and Allan and daughters-in- law; Evelyn, Regina, Vilma, ZsaZsa and Cecil . He leaves behind 21 grandchildren: Princess Eunice, Kristina Lesley, Sean John, Rachel Anne, Joseph, Kristoffer George, Jason, Janelli, Jallysa, Miguel, Carlos Gabriel, Johanness Zoe, Johansen Zia, Lara Patrcia, Patrick Lorenzo, Lana Isabelle, Peter John, Joshua, Michael Angelo and Aiden Mathieu, 5 Grandchildren-in-law; Astrude, Tanny, Sarah, Clautrin and Miveka and 10 great grandchildren: Maria Elisa, Maia Katerina, Mira Kasandra, Ayeesha, Eufemia, Claire, Clarke, Anniea, Celine and Medea.
Filomeno grew up a farmer’s son, inducted in the 100th Infantry Regiment (Formerly Third Provisional Regimen of Pangasinan) in July 04,1943 and continuing service until he was honorably discharged in September 17,1945. His World War II exploits with the US Army 35th Infantry Division include serving as as a guard in guerilla headquarters, providing security patrol and espionage work, construction of building camp and participated in actual combat against the enemy Japanese forces. After the war, he completed his secondary education in Pangasinan Provincial High School on October 1946. Initially taking up vocational course in radio operation in Baguio Tech (now University of Baguio), he finally graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce on May 1955. After technical jobs, he gained regular employment with Philippine Bureau of Post in November 1948 starting as a letter carrier, mail sorter eventually retiring as a Postal Inspector in July 1986. He has received several awards and citations during his service.
Filomeno was active member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Aurora Hill, Baguio City where he received a Star Council Award as a Grand Knight with Knights of Columbus (K of C) of Aurora Hill 6965. He was an active member of K Of C in Saint Elizabeth Anne Seaton Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. He was an active member of Holy Name Society, Cursillo in Christianity, Philippine Government Retired Employees association, Philippine Veterans Association and Filipino American WWII Veterans Association.
The whole family extends its gratitude to all the our friends and relatives who prayed and visited Filomeno when he was still alive. We appreciate the care and compassion that the VA Medical Center has given, especially to the Home Base Program Team in Katy and Hospice Plus Team.
Friends and Family are invited in the viewing on Monday September 18, 2023 between 5pm to 8pm. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the chapel then lunch will be served between 11:00am to 12:30 pm followed by Interment at 1:00 PM.
