She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Vieweg, son Philip Nelson, and daughter Lisa Nelson.
She is survived by her son Richard, daughter in law Nancy, granddaughter Kristin, grandson Kyle and great grandson “Pookie-Doo” Austin.
Floy left her friends and family to contribute to the war effort by counting bombs at the Charleston naval base and a USO volunteer. After the war she worked for the local phone company but adventure beckoned her to become a stewardess for Eastern Airlines in New York. While flying for Eastern a young pilot caught her eye, romance and marriage soon followed and a transfer to Miami, Jacksonville and Houston. Children soon followed and later she would become a single mother with two boys. Always in search of a better career she accepted jobs in Charleston, South Carolina, Glendale, California, Los Angles and Houston in the financial industry. In retirement, she was active in Unity church and was fascinated by UFO’s and space travel. If she ever met a space traveler he would probably exclaim “that’s one hard headed women” on planet earth. Have a safe journey….granny…….we will catch up with you later.
Love you and miss you granny.
In honoring Floy’s wishes, the family will have a private burial at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
