Frannie was born in Quincy, Massachusetts and started his work career at the local General Dynamics shipyard. Frannie and his wife Martha moved the family to Brownsville, Texas in 1972 where he enjoyed a long career supporting the design, development, and construction of offshore oil rigs with Marathon LeTourneau, Texas Drydock, and Newpark Shipbuilding. Outside of work he enjoyed playing golf, supporting family activities, and spending time with friends at the local YMCA.
Frannie loved his family dearly. He was Grampy to his 6 grandchildren and that was the name he loved most. Nothing made him happier than visits from his children and grandchildren. The grandkids will remember Grampy’s kindness and generosity, his love of golf, watching football from his recliner and always treating them to dinner during their visits.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Robert Fair and Florence Morse Fair and his wife, Martha Hay Fair. He is survived by his three children, Cheryl Alden (Pat) of McAllen, Texas; Michael Fair (Barbara) of Frisco, Texas; and Christine Munoz (Gilbert) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and his six grandchildren, Tyler and Tanner Alden, Joshua and Matthew Fair, and Riley and Reese Munoz. He is also survived by his longtime partner, Carole Marcella of Houston, Texas.
Graveside service will be on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00 am at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
