Frank wins the best neighbor award of all time. He was always helping others and many times did so without being asked.  He was always there if you needed him. Leaving my house whether just for work or for a 2 week vacation was always done with no worries because you knew Frank was around. And of course you can't speak of Frank without including Betty. They were a solid foundation in our neighborhood and in our lives. They were truly missed as neighbors and will now be missed in life.

Frank and I got along so well.  We talked about so many things and he had so many stories to share about his military life and his job.  He loved Betty, his wife, very much and he talked about her a lot.  I felt so honored when he requested that I be the hearse driver for his funeral. Thank you Mike and Greg for having me as a pallbearer also. Frank was a wonderful man and he will be missed.

Frank was one of our best neighbors.  When he found out that we would be neighbors, he mowed our lawn before we moved in.  He did that for a few months after we moved in.  He and Betty were wonderful, sweet people.  They both had a lot of love to give.  Frank kept a lookout for our home and I'm sure other neighbors' homes as well.  He had so many stories to tell.  Our children enjoyed hearing his stories.  He never forgot the names of our children and grandchildren.  He would ask for them by name.  When he became ill, he still had a smile on his face.  The memories of him will be in our hearts for a long time.  We miss him and his lovely wife, Betty.

I met him over Five years ago when his wife passed away didn't know it would be a wonderful roller coaster ride. Some days in the beginning was good and some were challenged. I learned a lot from Mr. frank he was always so humble and such a gentleman. I will forever miss him and he will always be close to my heart. Love you.

Be sure to view the slideshow and especially note the pure expression of joy on our mother's face as she welcomes Franklin home from his tour of duty in Turkey with the signal corp.  I've never seen her so happy and I'm so glad my brother had the honor guard at his burial.  I especially enjoyed the meet and greet afterwards.  It was a great honor to be able to share the Gospel with all of you who were there.  The LORD be with you...and with your spirit. Amen!

Some of the great memories I have now that I have had a few days are all the camping trips we took to Leakey, TX or Garner State Park.  We would spend plenty of time floating the FRIO river, swinging from rope swings along the way, jumping from cliffs into the deeper pools.  Sometimes he would float but most of the time he facilitated the fun; dropping us at the drop of point and then picking us up 3 hours later.  We had a blast at the Frio.  Cook-outs, sitting around the campfire till all hours of the night, taking new campers on their first snipe hunts...LOL, and our trips down the old stagecoach road.!  Dad relished the outdoors and wanted us to enjoy as much as he did.  Thanks pops.  

As the avid outdoorsman he was, we used to fish all the time near Galveston and the coast; Galveston Bay, Greens Bay, Morgans Point and caught more fish than we knew what to do with.  those were fun times and it taught me a lot about patience and appreciation for the animals God put on this earth that were good to eat.

When I was 3 years old, we were at my great great Geandmother's funeral, Big Mamma. I saw my older sister and cousins, Melissa, Lauren, and Kayla, walking around on the green stuff that they lay over the hole. I decided to start crawling that way and before I knew it, I was in a dark hole! I had fallen into the grave hole and Grandpaw (Franklin) was the only one who saw me fall in. He had pulled me out of the grave that I had fallen into! I will always remember that memory of Grandpaw pulling me out of the grave along with many others. I also loved it when he would tell us stories of his life and from when he was in the army. He always had something to tell us grandkids and I have many memmories of laughter around him! Grandpaw was one of a kind! He loved his family so much, and I am very happy to say that I loved him so much, as well!

Grandpa, I'm sure going to miss you and your grand dogs (Chloe, Brownie and Max) are as well.  Thank you for always playing games with me and all the great times we had together.

Grandpa will be missed. He loved and was love by many. I will never forget the wonderful times we spent together and the corky names he had for the animals around his house. Thank you Grabdpa for being a part of my life and for creating/raising  the best dad a son could ask for.

As I sit here contemplating the next steps, I find myself reminiscing on the good times and the things my father taught me and find it a cathartic process:
1. Sir and Maam always! Be Respectful
2. Taught me to hunt, fish and drive a boat as a little kid; if you have never seen a huge flock of canadian geese circling to land in a rice field laying on your back in 20 degree weather, you have to check it out.
3. took me to Humble Pee Wee football practice and games and always stayed...never missed a practice or game.
4. Came to all my high school football games
5. taught me how to fix an engine/tune-ups/brakes/change a tire, the major stuff
6. loved to camp; went all the time
7. taught me to love using a lawnmower, rake, and shovel.......LOL
8. He taught me manly Love as he loved our Mother
9. stand up straight
10. have conversation with adults in an adult manner
11. taught me to introduce myself to others
12. taught me to shake hands appropriately
13. most of all he gave us a lot of room to make our own mistakes and grow from them.

He loved our mom fiercely and always talked about her.  He missed her deeply after her untimely departure. Dad was always there, a presence in our lives and definitely was one to provide coaching and correction when needed.  He will be missed.

Uncle Frank had a big personality and a big heart to match! I will always remember him as funny, loving, and full of stories to tell that would make us laugh. I remember going to his wedding when he married Aunt Bettie. I am so glad that he was able to make it to the family reunion a couple of summers ago. It was such a blessing to have him there along with over seventy family members. He will be missed.

My dad was one of my biggest hero and he taught me a lot about life. He was my mentor, my teacher, my friend, my dad and a well-loved man.  It was in the presence of his wife, children, grandchildren, soon to be great-grandchildren and grand dogs that he acknowledged his life and destiny, and it was more than enough. 

I got my passion for the outdoors, carpentry and wood-working from my dad. I remember many days and nights as a child helping my dad in his workshop or outdoors working on broiler and turkey coops for my various 4-H and FFA projects.  He taught me the importance of spending as much, if not more, attention on the foundation and infrastructure of a project as without it, the project would not have the strength it would need to make it long-term.  What a great life lesson that was!

He was always building something, either furniture for us or a friend, or doing repairs around the house. He was always willing to help friends and family with their construction projects and he was the go to procurement center when a neighbor needed a specific tool or piece of lawn care equipment.

Although he had his flaws as a human being, he was a man well beyond his flaws.  Courage, sacrifice, compassion and humanity were the markings of my father, not so far removed from a Saint.  I loved my father and learned that in families, there are no crimes beyond forgiveness and it is the mystery of life, my faith and family that sustains me now.

I sometimes asked him how we had gotten so old, and his reply to me was, if my muscles ache, it's because I've used them.  It's hard for me to walk now because I've walked so many steps in life lying next to the woman who loved me.  I've got a few wrinkles here and there, but I've laid under thousands of star lit sky's and sunny days.  I look and feel this way because I drank, I smoked, I lived, danced, sang, sweat and loved my way through a pretty good life.  Getting old ain't bad.  Getting old is earned.

My father always told me that we are not like everyone.  Well that's true, we are certainly not like everyone.  But, everyone is everyone.  My pastor told me, our lives are streams.  Flowing in to the same river.  Towards whatever heaven lays in the mist beyond the falls.  Dad, close your eyes, kiss the most beautiful Girl in the world, and let the waters take you home.

I Joanna Lee took care of Mr. Frank for 5 years and he was was my second home. He met a lot to me and I loved him like my own dad. We didn't always have good days in the beginning , but we pushed through and he started to trust me and before long it was a wonderful rewarding realation ship. I learned so much from him and the stories he would tell me about his two sons. I will miss him dearly and he will forever be close to my heart. Thank you for allowing me to meet and take care of your dear Dad.

So many memories, family dinners, holidays & special gatherings, camp outs, ball fields, etc...  but one goes way way back to when I was just a wee tyke when I learned my Uncle Frank was just plain AWESOME!  As in most families, the Grandma's & Aunt's would keep the kids while the Mom's & Dad's were working...  kinda like daycare with the exception that we were all related & it was family taking care of us... those were some truly great days back then... & us kiddos loved it when Uncle Frank would come by after work, it was always an exciting time when that Dentler truck was spotted coming up the road...  I think we all looked forward to him coming to get Mike & Greg... we'd all run to open the gate so he could pull in the driveway because we all knew he was bringing us chips - we all thought those were the best potato chips ever, mostly because he brought them ESPECIALLY FOR US...  he was so good to all of us kids, he made us wait our turn & to share too...  other memories I recall include how he always looked at my Aunt Bettie as if she was a Princess... somehow I always knew that she really was...  Anyway, what I am trying to get across is that it really is the little things that someone does for us that will stay with us throughout our lifetime & we are truly blessed to get to enjoy them until God calls them home...  So be sure to cherish the times you can with those you love, let them help you & when you see a need, please help them, because the blessings we get & the blessings we give are the same when they come from or go to those we love...
