Born on March 1, 1933, in Houston, Texas, Fred was the cherished son of Ike and Carrie Griffin. He was raised in a loving family that instilled in him the core values of hard work, compassion, and service—principles that would define his entire life’s journey.
Family Legacy
Fred is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Billye Joyce (McDonald) Griffin, a partnership that stood as a testament to
enduring love and mutual respect. Together, they raised two exceptional children, a daughter, Patrice Michelle Griffin and a
son, Michael A. Griffin. He was preceded in death by his beloved siblings, Issac Griffin, Vernice Lauder, Gloria Dean Greene, Irene Davis, and H.J. Griffin.
Military Service and Professional Career
In 1953, Fred answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Totten in New York City and honorably completed his tour of duty in 1955, leaving the service with the rank of Corporal—a distinction he carried with immense pride. Following his military service, Fred dedicated over 50 years to Proler Steel International, embodying the principles of dedication and hard work that characterized his generation.

A committal service will be held at Paradise Cemetery North, at 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088, from 3:45 pm to 4:15 pm on the same day.
