

Fred F. Herbig was called by our Lord on Monday November 25, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born on July 3, 1942 to Fred and Mary Herbig in El Paso, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Celia. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 39 1/2 years Jessie Herbig, daughter Bea, son Christopher, grandson Nathan and his sister Mary Reid (Don). Also survived by many nieces,nephews,cousins, and extended family members in El Paso. He was a graduate of Ysleta High School and attended UT El Paso formerly called Texas Western College of Mines where he studied metallurgy. He was drafted into the army and served one year in Vietnam from 1967-1968.He was very proud of serving his country and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. Special thanks to the VA Hospital in Houston for the wonderful care he received. He was a member of the Katy 4 Fun Fishing Club which he greatly enjoyed and made many friends there. He volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Society at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. followed by prayer services Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, at 1530 Norwalk Dr. Katy, TX. at 11:30 a.m. Reception to follow at the church. Rite of Committal will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Houston National Cemetery at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Star of Hope Mission.
