On March 29, 1946, a healthy baby boy was born in Houston, TX to Alonzo Wallace, Sr. and Evelyn Thomas Wallace King. He was baptized at an early age at Bella Vista Missionary Baptist Church. Freddie shared a close bond with his mother who lovingly raised and guided him to become a man devoted to the Lord. On March 24, 2024, he became a devoted member of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, where he proudly served as an usher and a member of the Prayer Team.
Raised in the Studewood neighborhood and affectionately known as “Blue” by family and friends, Freddie was an expressive storyteller, a deep thinker, and a natural charmer whose infectious smile lit up every room. Above all, he was a teacher and spiritual leader who believed that everyone deserves a better quality of life through the knowledge of God.
He was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School’s class of 1964, where he was an active and well-rounded student. He participated in baseball, swimming, and track, and was also a member of the chess and Spanish clubs. Throughout his studies, Freddie became fluent in Spanish and worked as a lifeguard during his high school years.
Freddie demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit at an early age, starting his first business as a shoe shiner at just eight years old. After high school, he earned certification in electronics, igniting a lifelong passion for innovation and patent development. He went on to work for Cameron Iron and Excel Logistics and later retired from a management career with Hewlett-Packard in 2016.
His hobbies included watching sports (proud Cowboys fan), playing chess, gambling trips, reading the Bible, landscaping his yard, and fishing. He also deeply enjoyed family vacations and gatherings.
Freddie met and married Deborah Ann Cross Wallace (who he lovingly referred to as Shawty). Together they had three lovely daughters: Tanedra Deon, Kyndra Velyse, D’Andra Nycole. He was married twice previously to which he had three children: one handsome son, Freddie Lee, Jr (deceased), and two beautiful daughters, Twyla and Frelena.
Preceded in death: His mother, Evelyn Wallace King. His father, Alonzo Wallace, Sr. His brothers, Tommie Earl and Alonzo, Jr. His sister, Erma Smith, Adell Carter.
