He was born in Tuskegee, AL at Tuskegee Hospital 1/15/1964 to the parentage of Fred Bettis and Pearl Bettis (Williams), both of which have preceded him in death. He was a native of Gosport Alabama, his beloved hometown, where he visited frequently throughout his lifetime.
Frederick attended Clarke County High School, Sam Houston High School, and Job Corps of America with focal interest in Auto Mechanics.
He was married to Shirley Bettis Bland for 14 years and enjoyed spending time with his stepson Julius Bailey and step grandson Jeremiah Bailey.
Frederick worked as a print operator for 24 years with Western Lithograph. He also had a passion for security and details working various sites and positions with Allied Security for over 15 years, many of which were with the Port of Houston. He loved his job and the opportunity it afforded him to meet people. He never met a stranger.
He was a proud member of The Church at Willow Park. Wednesday night Bible study and Sunday morning worship became his to go places. He loved the church, his church family, and spending time with them in leisure and worship.
He had a passion for sports, KTSU, and cars. He was a regular Monday morning quarterback. He enjoyed listening to his beloved KTSU, their music, their commentary and occasionally called in to join in on the conversations.
He is survived by his daughter Elisabeth Bettis, his granddaughter Kayla Caldwell, 2 devoted sisters Pearlie Bettis and Carolyn Bettis, a niece Porsha Bettis, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!
A visitation will be held at The Church At Willow Park, located at 12650 N Houston Rosslyn Rd, Houston, TX 77086, on August 14, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A graveside service will be conducted at Paradise Funeral Home & Cemetery North, 10401 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088, on August 14, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
