

Gayle Elliot Gerson, 89, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at his home in Cypress, Tx. Growing up in Houston, Texas, Gayle was born to Seline Rosenzweig Gerson and Daniel Gerson on December 15, 1935. He was the oldest of their three children, a graduate of San Jacinto High School 1954, and he attended the University of Texas. He served honorably in the Army, while stationed in Germany, translating morse code. Gayle proudly worked for Levi Strauss for 28 years. After his retirement, he fished and gambled for many years. His motto was, “A bad day fishing beats a good day working”.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothea Brown Gerson of Cypress, his first wife Charlyn Segell Robinson, sister Teri (Ray) Wathen, daughters Cindy (Dan) Bennett, Amanda (Adam) Aznar, grandchildren Paige (Conor) Linekin, Evan Aznar, Kailee Aznar and bonus grandson Michael (Megan) Bennett. He also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Gayle is predeceased in death by his brother Phillip Gerson and grandson Ryan Bennett.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Brookside Funeral Home, Cypress Creek, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, Tx 77095, Sunday, May 18, 2025, 2 - 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial contribution be made to a charity of your choice.
