Wednesday, April 22, 2026, with his wife by his side. Born on March 8, 1942, in Lake Creek, Texas, Gene was the son of William Austin Grizzle and Georgia Mae Mills. He spent part of his early years living with his siblings at the Odd Fellows Home in Corsicana, Texas. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1960 and went on to build a long and dedicated career spanning over 50 years in the parts department of several Chevrolet dealerships in the Houston area.
On June 21, 1969, Gene married the love of his life, Louretta Wallace. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and countless cherished memories. Gene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In his free time, he enjoyed working with his hands and was always willing to lend his skills by fixing vehicles for family members-a quiet act of love that many came to rely on and appreciate. Another expression of his love was found in his Sunday morning tradition of making a BIG breakfast, including biscuits and gravy, a simple but cherished ritual that brought his family together time and time again.
He is survived by his beloved wife Louretta Grizzle; his daughter, Lana Zimmermann and her husband Rene of Houston; his grandchildren Reed Zimmermann and his partner Hali Herrera, Reece Zimmermann and his wife Kayla, and Ryan Zimmermann; and his great-grandchildren, Hayden, Julian, Rose, and Noah. He is also survived by his sisters, Martha O’Malley of Houston and Linda Barnes and her husband Billy of Garland; brothers Jerry Grizzle of San Diego and Danny Grizzle and his wife Jonna of Cypress; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Grizzle and Georgia
Mills, and his brother, Randy Grizzle.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 11, at 3:00 p.m. at
Brookside Funeral Home – Cypress Creek, 9149 Highway 6 North,
