Born Gene Jessie Robinson March 7, 1940 to Leon and Evelyn Robinson, in Louise, Texas. He graduated from Louise High School in 1959. Enlisted in the United States Army. He was in the 17th Fourth Artillery, Rank of Private E-1 served on Drill Team and he also boxed for the Army. He received an Honorable Discharged from The United States Army receiving medals in Marksmanship and good conduct. He retired after 30 years of employment from Yellow Freight.
Wife of 20 years: Norma Villanueva De Robinson.
Children from a previous marriage one son and one daughter:
Michael Robinson, wife Roxanne, two daughters and one son: Olivia, Ava and Levi Robinson.
Diana Robinson Gutierrez & Chris Romero, her three sons Ricky, Ryan Gutierrez and Gabriel Garcia.
Sisters: Lillie Estrello, husband Arthur, children and grandchildren.
Dell Williams, one daughter, two sons and one granddaughter.
Nephews and Nieces from Deceased brothers: Manual, Charlie and Robert Robinson.
Gene was loyal, caring, kind hearted husband. Gene loved his family he was very protective of them all. He loved everyone even if he didn’t know them personally. If they had a need he was there to help.
He loved all sports, he knew all the names and positions of the players.
While in the hospital he listened to the Astros game each time they played. The first game they lost one of the doctors came in to check him. He told the doctor how disappointed he was the Astros lost.
In Memory of Gene the T.V. in his room was turned on The Astros World Series Games.
