

George Clarence Boyd went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2012. Born November 8, 1917 in Hawley Jones Co. Texas, George quit school in 8th grade to support his mother and 6 siblings as a Telegram Delivery Boy in Houston Texas at the age of 13 and at age 18, he joined the CCC Camps. He met Faye Goddard of Houston at his church and married her in 1939. He worked at Texas Sash and Door Company then worked at Ellington Field repairing planes during WWII. George’s brothers also served in the military. Jack served in the Marine Corps during WWII, Odell was in the Army, Chester was in the Korean Conflict and they had two sisters back home, Betty Edwards and Adeline Thompson. After the war, George worked at Hobby Airport and assisted with Pioneer Airlines. In 1955, George and Faye moved to California where he worked for Aerojet General in fabrication, research and development for 5 years. They moved back to Houston and he worked at NASA in Clearlake between 1961 and 1971 in research and development where he was very essential to the space race and won several awards. George later opened his own blacksmith shop on Uvalde for 2 years and moved to San Antonio in 1972. After 33 years of marriage, his loyal and beloved Faye passed from cancer in 1984. He then retired and moved to St. Hedwig in 1986 and lived there independently next to family until March 5, 2012, 12:35 pm when he went to join his beloved Faye and his Lord. George was faithful to his God, Family and Country and we are sure he is rejoicing with Faye and God.
George is survived and greatly missed by his daughters, Debra Stalowski and Sharon Johnson and husband Robert ; grandchildren, Marie Koepp and husband Gordon, Carolyn Karwick, George Johnson and wife Marylou, Tricia Price, Frances Warren, Robert E. Johnson and wife Frances, James Johnson and wife Corylee, Peter Garcia and wife Amanda, Justin Stalowski; great grandchildren, Chris, Heather and Stephanie Koepp, Catherine and Callie Karwick, Nina, Christina, Jeremiah and Emily Johnson, Faith, Daniel, Grace and Hope Price, Jessica Hollingworth and Shelby Warren, Zachary, Blake and Archer Johnson, Caleb and Marilyn Johnson; brother, Jack Boyd; sister, Adeline Thompson; seven great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews (whom called him “Unc”), cousins and friends all over Texas and other places.
