George worked in construction before becoming a wrecker driver, earning respect through steady work and a dependable spirit.
On December 29, 1960, he married Edna Susie Pickett, and together they built a family rooted in love and faith. George and Susie had five children—four boys and one girl—before becoming adoptive parents to many others along the way.
Known on the northside as “Preacherman,” George was a devoted servant to his community and his church. In 1970, George and Susie joined Unity Baptist Church, where he served in many roles before becoming the full-time pastor in 1979.
George will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Paw Paw, and friend—not only to his children and grandchildren, but to anyone who entered his home. His passion in this life was telling everyone he spoke with about Jesus, and his dying wish was for all his grandbabies to know that Jesus loves them.
