George Kenneth Samples

Ken was born to the late Albert Samples and Ruby Samples“Calahan” on January 10, 1948 in Knox City, TX. He was the youngest of 5 children. He grew up in Garland, TX and graduated from Richardson High School. Ken and Drema were married in 1973 and started raising their family in Garland, TX before moving to Caddo Mills, TX in 1979.

Ken worked in the Oil Well/Pumps business for over 44 years before he retired in 2017. His work took him and his family from Garland, TX and Caddo Mills, TX to McAlester, OK, and Tulsa, OK before settling in Houston, TX in 2000.

Ken was strong in his Christian faith and his kindness, gentleness and generosity were astounding. He was an amazing husband and father who is absolutely adored by his children and grandchildren. Kenneth

was a great man and is already deeply missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 48 years, Desmond “Drema” Samples; three children, Christi John, McAlester, OK; Melissa Sanchez, married to Cristino Sanchez, Spring, TX; Heath Samples, married to LaShawnna Samples, Houston, TX; his brothers J.A. Samples married to Mabel Samples and Virgle “Buddy” Samples married to Karoll Samples. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Samples”Calahan”, his father Albert Samples, his sister Helen Peacock and her husband Bill Peacock, his brother Joe Samples and his wife Laverne Samples, his sister - in-law Kay Samples, his nephew Virgle, his niece Olivia Samples, his nephew Tim Peacock, his niece Shirley Carter, his great niece Kimberly Melton, and several others.

A celebration of Ken’s life will be held April 30, 2022 at Gleannloch Farms Recreation Center in Spring, TX at 11:00am.
