Georgette Kawas Asaf, 89, of Houston TX, passed away on May 20, 2021. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born in Bethlehem, Palestine, on February 2, 1932 and was always honored to be from the same birthplace of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Georgette was born to Khalil and Ferida Kawas and was the youngest of eight children.
Georgette and her family immigrated to Honduras, Central America, in the years following World War II. She spent her young adult life assisting her father with their family business. In 1961, visiting her sister in Houston, she met her future husband George Asaf. They were married two years later, and she called Houston home for nearly the next 60 years.
Georgette loved spending as much time as possible with her loved ones, including her sons Gregory and George and their families. She especially enjoyed trips with them, and any occasion where she could cook for all her family and friends. Georgette remained an active member of the St. George Orthodox Christian Church community, from when she first moved to Houston until her final days. It was there where she always found joy, peace and spiritual fulfillment, spending as much time as possible with those she considered her extended family.
Georgette was preceded in death by her husband George Asaf, and is survived by her sons Gregory and George, their wives Kathy and Gloria, grandsons Gavin, Gregory Paul and Philip, and three great-granddaughters.
