Jerry graduated from Midland High School in 1944. She married Delbert “Bill” Wright in 1947. Her heart was broken when he passed away in 1995, and it left a big hole in the lives of all of the family. They are survived by their children, David Wright and wife Gwyn Clark Wright of Victoria, Texas and Diana Wright Crump and husband Harry Crump of Spring, Texas. Grandchildren are Golden Wright and wife Angie, and Mandy Wright Owens and husband Chris; Matthew Crump and wife Emily, and Andrew Crump. For many years Jerry, and her sister Faye Mack, worked for the nursery at Crestview Baptist Church, as well as other churches in Midland. She loved the babies and was so appreciated by their parents for the loving care they received from her.
Jerry was a life-long reader and loved to tell how, as a child, she walked into the Midland Public Library and thought she had found heaven! She was the most content person on earth. She enjoyed and appreciated every day and proclaimed down to the last that she was “the luckiest old woman in the world!” She and Bill always said they felt successful because their children were happy and productive with nice families, and what more could you want? Their house was a home, and family and friends were welcome at any time. Anyone who ate a meal or spent the night there will tell you what good memories they have of Jerry and Bill and the wonderful home they shared.
Jerry was truly a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
