Gigi Skye Mitchell was born on August 04, 1959, in Harvey Illinois to her mother Virginia Hudgins who was a nurse and father Samuel Holder who ran a trucking company. Hard-work was a trait Gigi inherited from her mother who would work multiple shifts to care for Gigi’s 3 siblings- Sandra Holder, Duke Holder, and Mark Holder.
The pivotal moment in her journey was the holy matrimony to Husband of 38 years, Henry Markham Mitchell IV, the love of her life, who relocated from Chicago Illinois to Houston Texas where Gigi began her career as a social worker. A profession near and dear to her heart because one of her natural gifts was the desire to love and selflessly help others.
Gigi and her beloved husband raised their three children- Solomon Mitchell, Henry Mitchell V, and Frances Mitchell to know and love God, focus on academics and always do the right thing. Early Saturday mornings would consist of cleaning the home and practicing musical instruments. Henry Mitchell IV taught Gigi how to play clarinet, saxophone and in her final days began showing her how to play the piano.
Gigi never met a stranger and the legacy of the love she gave the world will be in the hearts of many. Gigi chose to help others by following her heart and purpose. The amount of calls received after her passing has been tremendous and is a testament to the multitude of family and friends that love her. The warmth that permeated from her soul was truly God-given. Gigi made herself available to speak about anything from a recipe, prayer or just to open your heart. Truly living by the scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:4-13
Gigi loved all seven of her grandchildren- Henry VI, Patrick, Benjamin, Daniah, Laniah, Skye and Daniella. Watching them grow was one of the biggest delights of her life and she will live on through them for generations to come.
The Lord called her home to her final resting place within the arms of her Lord and Savior to hear, “Job Well Done” on Tuesday evening January 28, 2020. Gigi lives on forever in the hearts of those who were touched by her presence of love. Gigi Skye Mitchell will be deeply missed. Until we meet her anointed embrace once again. Rest In Paradise. Love You So.

And Roses Round Thee Blow”
