

After commissioning, LTC Renfree performed duties as Fire Direction Officer and Platoon Leader in B/3-133FA (Texas Army National Guard) until 2000. Upon completion of the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, LTC Renfree was assigned to 1-78FA where he served as a Firing Battery Executive Officer and Battalion S3. In 2003, LTC Renfree took command of A/1-79FA and implemented a Warrior Ethos pilot program for Basic Combat Training. Upon relinquishing command, he attended the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course (FACCC), then was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division Artillery as the DIVARTY Senior Liaison Officer to the Third Republic of Korea Army. LTC Renfree returned to Fort Sill in 2006 and deployed for 14 months with III Corps’ Joint Fires Cell to OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM as a Force Field Artillery Battle Captain. Upon redeployment, he transferred to 2-2FA and served as HHS Battery Commander and Battalion S3.
In 2010, LTC Renfree relocated again to Korea to serve as a Current Operations Battle Major for 8th Army and Fire Support Officer for 1HBCT/2ID. After resident attendance at the Army Command and
General Staff Officer Course in 2013, LTC Renfree performed duties as Battalion Executive Officer for 3-393FA and Brigade Executive Officer for 166th Aviation Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas. LTC Renfree qualified as an Afghanistan-Pakistan Hand Dari speaker and served as an Action Officer in the Operations Directorate of HQDA G- 3/5/7. He then deployed as an Advisor to the Afghan Special Operations Directorate with NATO Special Operations Component Command- Afghanistan from 2017-2018.
LTC Renfree has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Economics from Texas Tech University, Master of Arts in Christian Leadership Studies from Liberty University, and Master of Arts in Strategic Security Studies from the National Defense University. His awards include: The Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters. Additionally, he is an Army Staff Badge holder and recipient of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.
LTC Renfree is survived by his wife Jennifer and their three children, Michael (14) and Matthew (9) and Megan (7).
A celebration of life for Glen will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Friday, June 4, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A reception will occur Friday, June 4, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
