Gonzalo Mata

Gonzalo was born in San Pedro, Mexico, and on January 10, 1945, he married the love of his life, Elvira Mata. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, love, and tradition.

He had a passion for barbequing, cooking for his family, and spending time with those he loved most. A devoted sports fan, Gonzalo cheered faithfully for the Chivas soccer team, the Houston Astros, and the Houston Texans. His warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Gonzalo was preceded in death by his brother, Rodrigo Mata. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elvira Mata; his son, Juan Mata, and daughter-in-law, Marie Mata; and his two cherished granddaughters, Yvette Mata and Priscilla Mata.

Though he is no longer with us, Gonzalo’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Con profunda tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de Gonzalo Mata, de 80 años, residente de Houston, Texas, quien falleció pacíficamente el 25 de agosto de 2025.

Gonzalo nació en San Pedro, México, y el 10 de enero de 1945 se casó con el amor de su vida, Elvira Mata. Juntos, construyeron una hermosa vida centrada en la familia, el amor y la tradición.

Le apasionaban las barbacoas, cocinar para su familia y pasar tiempo con sus seres queridos. Devoto aficionado a los deportes, Gonzalo animaba fielmente a las Chivas, a los Astros de Houston y a los Texans. Todos quienes lo conocieron extrañarán profundamente su calidez, generosidad y alegría.

Gonzalo fue precedido en la muerte por su hermano, Rodrigo Mata. Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Elvira Mata; su hijo, Juan Mata, y su nuera, Marie Mata; y sus dos queridas nietas, Yvette Mata y Priscilla Mata.

Aunque ya no esté con nosotros, el recuerdo de Gonzalo vivirá para siempre en los corazones de su familia y amigos.
