Gordon attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, Sidney Lanier Junior High School, and Lamar Senior High, where he was in the National Honor Society and president of his junior class and graduated from St. Thomas High School in May 1949. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas and a Law degree from South Texas College of Law August 26, 1955, where he was on the Law Review board.
Gordon was licensed to practice law in Texas in November 9, 1955 and licensed to practice law in Louisiana in August 28, 1963. He was in the private practice of law and with the Houston Legal Foundation until January 28, 1974, when he became employed with the Regional Counsel of U.S. Customs in Houston. Gordon was an Attorney with U.S. Customs for 28 years. He was president of the Houston Chapter of The Federal Bar Association and also president of The Pasadena Toastmasters Club when he lived in Pasadena, Texas.
Gordon’s hobbies were tennis, golf and swimming. He rode The Salt Grass Trail twice and the Sour Lake Trail once on horseback. He also worked on a stock ranch in Junction, Texas when he was sixteen and one of his great accomplishments was breaking in a Spanish Thoroughbred horse that had never been ridden before. He enjoyed playing classical music on the piano and has traveled to all seven continents including the Antarctica.
Gordon is survived by his wife Mary Moïse; 2 sister-in-laws, Natalie and Nancy and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Gladys Moïse; brothers, Neville Moïse and Dr. Leonard Moïse.
